Gavin is a semi-pro photographer (working towards becoming a pro photographer, which is really not that easy as he found out…..the hard way), should have listened to the advice that he was given….Don’t become a Pro Photographer, oh well too late now.
At an early age, Gavin’s father handed him a camera when he was very young, which he never got back, and since then photography has been a love and a passion that Gavin have pursued, sometimes relentlessly, throughout his life. On some occasions, the passion that Gavin ha, is sidetracked by small things like life, a paying job, having kids and getting married (not necessarily in that order) etc.
Gavin is predominately a self taught photographer however he has undertaken some courses only to find that they moved to slow for him. Gavin is always learning something new and different that has come with the digital age. Fortunately over the years, Gavin has been presented opportunities to photograph ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things in the most unlikely places and those ordinary people have taken him to places where most people can’t or simply won’t go which have resulted in some amazing images.
Stemming from all of these opportunities, a dream was born to be able to present some of these amazing images to the world to see and this is where the idea of Thief Images was born. Gavin believes that he is some times just an observer in life and all he is doing is ‘stealing those precious moments in life !’ by capturing those moments in time.
Gavin is married to a beautiful woman who is very supportive in his adventures across the world. Gavin and his wife, have a teenage son.
Note: Gavin also wanted to add what he believes is the definition of a Semi-Pro Photographer. A Semi Pro Photographer is someone who is slowly building an income from their photography business which is slowly replacing their every day grind income. This can happen quickly or slowly and that depends on the person and how much drive and motivation that person has.
